Yep, it’s that time again!
SUMMER CLEANUP
June 12-26 | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Daily
Don’t miss the chance to clear your home of junk just taking up space. Thanks to the Board, we’ve rented dumpsters for two weeks again this year. What would YOU like to see removed and sent off to the dump? Now’s the time to start planning and get busy!
We’ll have 2 dumpsters in each of 2 locations:
- 2 dumpsters located at the water pump on W. Sarazen St. SE
- 2 dumpsters at Armour Dr. SE and Armour Loup SE
Please note: NO hazardous waste and chemicals and NO large appliances, like refrigerators or ovens. If you have computers or televisions, you can E-cycle these items across the street at GoodWill Industries.
From the Thurston Co. web site:
“Electronics and “technotrash”
Manufacturers are now required by state law to offer recycling services for certain electronic items at no cost to residents, nonprofits, small businesses, schools and local governments. The law took effect January 1, 2009 and applies to the following items only:
- TVs
- Desktop computers
- Laptop computers
- Monitors
- E-book readers (such as The Kindle and the Nook)
- Portable DVD players”
Help!
We need volunteers to help manage the event. It’s a win-win. You get to help our community clear itself of trash and junk–and spend time with your neighbors managing a worthy project. If you want to get involved, just let Bob Moore know, at (360) 455-4464 (leave a message for Bob at our group number and allow 24-48 hour for a reply), or contact us and tell Bob you want to help out.
Notice: Due to Excessive Abuse, the Event Has Been Cancelled
Unfortunately, the much-anticipated Community Cleanup Event was cancelled because of excessive abuse. People were dumping items that were not supposed to be dumped, dumping garbage into the green bin and stacking full bins 5-feet high with garbage and trash. When the bins were so full they couldn’t be filled anymore people simply dumped the garbage on the ground. Costs and frustration forced the board to cancel the event. A great idea, ruined by disrespectful users. Our thanks to Bob Moore and those who helped. We’re sorry, but the circumstances made it impossible to continue on.
