“Why the White Lines?”
Update July 15, 2015
The Board has decided to suspend this summer’s plan to seal cracks and perform other surface repairs to our streets with the announced plan by the City of Lacey to resurface the streets after it installs new sewer and water lines next year. Trustee John Leo stated “that it makes no sense to go forward with the repairs when the City will tear up the street next year and provide a complete new resurface.”
The City’s plan will save approximately $40,000 in repairs this Summer and an additional $500,000. in 2024 or 2025.
Sahara Burson of VIS Management advised the Board of Trustees that “with this announcement by the City of Lacey the Association’s complete Capital Reserve Plan will have to be revised to reflect the now unneeded plan for the HOA to resurface our streets in about five years.”
From President Larry Dittloff:
The Streets and Signs Committee has been out marking streets that will receive street crack repairs later this Summer. This work should be out to bid by no later than July—with work to be completed later this Summer or early Autumn. David Luhr indicated that with this repair we may be able to extend the life of our streets beyond the current projection of 2023.
We wish Streets and Signs Committee Member, David Luhr, a grateful and fond farewell!
I am also very sorry to report that Board Member David Luhr who was heading up the Streets and Signs Committee is moving to North Carolina. David was also serving as the Association’s Secretary, as well. Fellow Committee Member Randy Luke will be leading that Committee’s efforts after David leaves with assistance from Kevin Rae and myself (Larry Dittloff).
